grew up in Denver, Colorado, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1977. Following graduation, Betsy was admitted to the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at California State University, San Diego. She completed her degree in 1979 and moved to Oakland, California. Betsy worked for 10 years in Oakland and later in Phoenix, Arizona, as a hospital social worker specializing in patient health resources and long-term placement. During her tenure as a MSW
, she acquired a great deal of knowledge and expertise in medicine and disability services.
Betsy entered the Juris Doctorate (JD) program at Arizona State University in 1988 and graduated in the top 10% of her law school class. Betsy received her law degree in 1991 and moved to Northern California where she was an associate and later a partner in a Social Security Disability law firm. In 2002, Betsy founded the Law Offices of Betsy H. Alberts
in Yuba City, California
, and has since branched out to satellite offices throughout Northern California, including Placerville, Sacramento
